Acceptance & Mental Health

12/05/2019 Will go down as the day I truly realised I was finally at peace with the loss of Oliver. I had a conversation with a close friend of mine who was going through the same thing and as we spoke more I realised that about a year ago I think I got to that stage.

About 2 years ago I started having a full mental breakdown, this lead to relationship problems and severe mental health issues. I was fortunate enough at the time to have some amazing people in my life who held me up and helped me get through it.

Round about April last year I had began talking to Paul who was the founder at Daddys with Angel who I volunteered for about stepping down to re focus on Myself and My family. Sadly last year Paul was diagnosed with Cancer and sadly passed earlier this year.

I won’t go into any details regarding problems with My relationship with my partner as Its private but we did end up seperating for 3 month and I think this helped me re focus on life and what’s important. I took the decision to leave Daddys With Angels to Re-Focus On life and on How best to support others.

The more I sit and think about it, the more I realised that I was heading to really bad place the more I thought that If i do and have a full break down then I am letting down the memory of Oliver. One thing with Child loss that goes hand in hand is Mental Health. I can be at peace with Oliver’s loss but what is left over is Bad Mental Health.

There are a lot of links with PTSD and child loss because it is a highly traumatic experience , and it really does scar you for life. Closure on a loss Does not get rid of this or make it any easier.

Always take care of your mental health, the signs can be there or they can sneak up on you and kick you in the teeth if you ignore them like I did. Some of the signs can be poor hygiene, lack of wanting to do anything, insomnia & severe mood swings and you can not notice them for months due to low moods.
